DC Jobs with Justice is helping lead the Respect DC campaign to force Wal-Mart to respect DC workers and communities.
The campaign is working with Wal-Mart workers to hold the company to a higher standard as it expands in DC. Walmart will open a third store in DC by the end of 2015, and as the wealthiest corporation in the world, it can and should pay living wages, hire DC residents, and work with communities to meet their needs.
DC Jobs with Justice has the purpose of helping Wal-Mart employees as individuals or groups in their dealings with Wal-Mart over labor rights and standards and their efforts to have Wal-Mart publicly commit to adhering to labor rights and standards. DC Jobs with Justice has no intent to have Wal-Mart recognize or bargain with UFCW or OUR Walmart as the representative of Wal-Mart employees. Judges have preliminarily enjoined non-Associates who are part of Jobs with Justice from entering Wal-Mart property in Maryland. Read the order here.
