Celebration of the MPD’s New Wage Theft Procedure with La Unión de Trabajadores de DC!

When: June 14th from 7:00-9:00pm

Join DC Jobs with Justice in celebrating the victory of the workers of La Union de Trabajdores in developing a procedure with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)to document and investigate wage theft cases. This agreement is a new strategy to combat the rampant problem of wage theft in the District by increasing cooperation within agencies.

Community Applauds as DC Council Passes Emergency Immigration Legislation

After a shocking announcement on Friday, June 1st by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that the controversial “Secure Communities” deportation would become active in the District of Columbia today, Tuesday June 5th, DC Council acted swiftly and passed the Immigration Detainer Compliance Emergency Amendment Act.

As Mayor Gray commented, “Police rely on the trust of those community members that their immigration status will not be threatened by their cooperation in local law enforcement investigations. Secure Communities jeopardizes that trust.”

CWA ACTIVIST ROCK OUT BEFORE RADIO HEAD CONCERT!

We need you out in numbers in the streets demonstrating your support! Walmart needs to know they must RESPECT DC or STAY OUT!

Stand up and Fight for Good Jobs with CWA!

Come join the Communication Workers of America locals 2108, 2336 and 2222 for a rally on June 3rd!

Members of the Communications of Workers America union have went almost a year without a new contract from Verizon. Let’s send this corporate giant a message that we will stand up to fight for good jobs.

First we will gather at CWA Local 2336 at 3pm for hamburgers and hotdogs. CWA local 2336 is located at 151 Riggs Road NE Washington, DC 20011. Then we will meet at the Verizon Center at 5pm for a rally outside of the Radio Head concert.

First, thank you all for your hard work as we have brought the fight to Walmart this spring. Our visits to Walmart stores in May as part of the Walmart at 50 tour had a huge impact, along with our massive parade and rally, as Walmart went into their shareholders meeting with their backs against the wall. And we aren’t stopping!
