Fenty’s Strategy: Cut City Services, Attack District Workers?

On Thursday, November 20th the DC Workers’ Rights Board will be holding a hearing at the DC City Council on the impact of the proposed budget cuts on public services. The hearing will examine recent attacks on public workers in city agencies ranging from mental health to public schools. Community leaders, workers, parents, students and city administrators will testify. The Mayor, City Council and Chancellor have been invited to participate.

“Wage Theft in America” book tour launches in DC

Verizon’s FiOS: Make It Count for DC

Good news! After a year-long campaign spearheaded by Connect-DC, Verizon has finally agreed to bring high-speed Fiber Optic Service (FiOS) to the Nations’ Capital. BUT don’t pop the cork just yet! Many of the city’s neighborhoods have been left out of the plan entirely. Click here to see whether your neighborhood has been included. Moreover, unlike in Maryland and Virginia, Verizon has yet to make firm job commitments for DC.
