Building Unity Between Black and Brown Communities.

On Saturday, March 28th, workers, tenants, organizers, parents and children from all walks of life will gather for an all-day city wide forum on racism, immigration and class in the District of Columbia. The all-day forum titled “Facing What Divides Us: building unity between Black and Brown communities,” seeks to create a safe space for people to come together, express their feelings, analyze the divisions between communities of color, and share strategies for finding common ground in the workplace.

DC JwJ Creates ESL Booklet

DC Jobs with Justice has created a pocket-sized booklet of practical English vocabulary and phrases for Day Laborers.

Not only does this help workers communicate with their employers around the work site, but it also provides them with contact information for various English as a Second Language classes in the DC area.

ESL volunteers use these booklets to teach classes twice a week in the Home Depot parking lot off of Rhode Island Avenue NE. r
