Come out and show your support for this bill and your community at the hearing before the City Council! In 2001 the Lovejoy School at 12th and D St. NE was sold to build 54 luxury apartments and the developer made $24 million on this project.

Last Thursday’s 6th annual DC Jobs with Justice “I’ll Be There” Awards ceremony was a certainly a night to remember. Hundreds of members and supporters of DC JwJ crowded into the Samuel Gompers room to honor the formidable contributions of President Jos Williams, Foundry Methodist Church,Empower DC and DC Public Schools Activists Mary Spencer and Marc Borbely to the lives of working people in the District of Columbia.

Montgomery County Part-time Profs Organize
Montgomery College students, adjunct professors and members of the DC Student Labor Action Project participated in a “Lunch with Adjuncts” day on Weds, March 23rd. The event raised awareness about the struggle by part-time faculty to form a union, and provided outreach for an upcoming action at the Montgomery College Board of Trustees meeting on April 28. Student organizers added over 400 signatures to their petition supporting the adjunct’s right to organize.
