Press Conference Outside of ICE Headquarters: S-COMM – End It, Don’t Mend It
In anticipation of the mark up of the Detainer Bill on May 8th, our progressive response to the poorly named Secure Communities program, ICE is trying to hold a “dialogue” to urge DC council members to reject the bill that they unanimously co-sponsored. We are holding a press conference outside their headquarters right before the meeting to show them the strength of the DC immigrant rights community.

DC Jobs with Justice and Respect DC’s Spring of 99% Training “energized” attendees
The Spring of 99% nonviolent direct action trainings happened all over our country last week. The goal was to train 100,00 people across the United States on nonviolent direct action. Locally in DC,on Sunday, April 15th, people gathered at the AFL-CIO for the DC Jobs with Justice and Respect DC Spring of 99% training.
Some of the training attendees hailed from organizations like the Democratic Socialist of America (DSA), the New Organizing Institute and Pride at work.
Not Your Average 8th Grade Trip

8th Grade participants in Sophia Academy’s Social Justice Program in Providence, RI spoke with DC Jobs with Justice and Mujeres STITCH organizers this week about how to create a movement for justice focused on women’s issues here and abroad. The girls were extremely insightful and reminded us of the power of youth to both acknowledge and help build a more just world. We look forward to inviting these girls to join our staff in 2022!
