Immigrant Rights Victory! DC Council Says No to Secure Communities.

rnAs a result of the effort of DC Jobs with Justice and local activists from the DC Immigrant Rights Coalition, on Tuesday May 8th, 2012 the DC Council on the Judiciary voted the Immigrant Detainer Compliance Amendment Act of 2011 out of committee. rn

rnThis bill that will help keep DC families together and make sure that local police are not doing the job of federal immigration enforcement and that DC residents tax dollars won’t be used to comply with federal immigration requests.rn
