DCNA to Hold Job Action – Demands that Howard University

Resume Contract Negotiations and Discuss Staffing

The District of Columbia Nurses Association (DCNA), the union representing Registered Nurses, Pharmacists, Dietitians and Social Workers at Howard University Hospital, urged Howard University President, Sidney A. Ribeau, Ph.D., to resume negotiations on a collective bargaining agreement.

DCNA advised President Ribeau that the University’s inability or unwillingness to resume negotiations has resulted in DCNA’s decision to take concerted action on October 9th. DCNA also raised the abject refusal of management to discuss concerns related to staffing and patient safety as another reason to hold the job action.

DCNA, an affiliate of the National Nurses United, AFL-CIO, represents over 500 health care professionals employed at the Howard University Hospital and over 2000 professionals in the District of Columbia.
