Benefit concert for DC Trans Coalition
Join the DC Trans Coalition for a benefit concert on January 21!
In light of the rash of violence against transgendered people this summer, and the taxi fare increase planned for 2012, DC Trans Coalition wants to make sure we can provide DC with the programming necessary to keep everyone safe from public sexual harassment and assault.

Interfaith Service to Honor Dr. King’s Committment to Worker Justice
INTERFAITH SERVICE TO HONOR KING’S COMMITMENT TO WORKER JUSTICE
Faith Advocates for Jobs will sponsor a national interfaith service to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and to rededicate ourselves to the struggle for worker justice, which he championed up to his death.
Rev. Dr. James Forbes, senior pastor emeritus of Riverside Church in New York City, will deliver the sermon. He will be joined on the pulpit by unemployed workers, Rev. Paul Sherry, national coordinator of Faith Advocates for Jobs, and Dr. Wallace Smith, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church.r
Hearing in Immigrant Rights Bill
Help us pack the room for the hearing on a bill to protect hundreds of DC immigrant families against deportation.
We packed the room last year when DC voted to opt-out of S-Comm and again this Fall to see the Mayor sign an executive order to mark a bright line of separation between unjust federal immigration laws and our local law enforcement.

Celebrating Victories with the Unión de Trabajadores
The Unión de Trabajadores celebrated Christmas in style last week, with over 60 worker members present. Leaders of the organization presented on wage theft and past organizing victories and performed inspiring music and poetry.

Verizon and Walmart battled it out for the top spot of Scrooge of the Year!
Verizon was declared the winner of the Scrooge of the Year contest at the DC Jobs with Justice Winter Cabaret on December 10th. The Scrooge of the Year is a company or person who has done dastardly deeds to workers in Washington, D.C..
Some of the other nominees were Solanges Vivens, Liberty Maritime, Capital Grille, Daycon Products,John Hill,Gove
or Scott Walker, and Walmart.
