These awards, given annually since 2003, honor individuals and organizations for exceptional solidarity. rnrnThis year’s awardees are:rnrn*Foundry United Methodist Church, for their commitment to supporting day labor organizing and ongoing solidarity with union struggles;rnrn*Joslyn N. Williams, President of the Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO for his commitment to building DC Jobs with Justice. rnrn*Empower DC, for their work winning greater access to child care for low-income working parents and for their efforts to defend public property for public good.rnrn*Mary Spencer and Mark Borbely for their long-time activism in support of DC Public School students, parents, and workers. rnrnThe awards ceremony will take place on June 12th from 5:30-7:30pm at the AFL-CIO, 815 16th St, NW. rnrnSpace in the program book is filling up fast, but the deadline has been extended until Monday, June 2nd.
