DC Jobs with Justice is proud to announce the recipients of the 2008 “I’ll Be There” Awards. These awards, given annually since 2003, honor individuals and organizations for exceptional solidarity. rnrnThis year’s awardees are:rnrn*Foundry United Methodist Church, for their commitment to supporting day labor organizing and ongoing solidarity with union struggles;rnrn*Joslyn N. Williams, President of the Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO for his commitment to building DC Jobs with Justice. rnrn*Empower DC, for their work winning greater access to child care for low-income working parents and for their efforts to defend public property for public good.rnrn*Mary Spencer and Mark Borbely for their long-time activism in support of DC Public School students, parents, and workers. rnrnThe awards ceremony will take place on June 12th from 5:30-7:30pm at the AFL-CIO, 815 16th St, NW. rnrnSpace in the program book is filling up fast, but the deadline has been extended until Monday, June 2nd.
