Hundreds to Honor Labor, Community Activists at DC JwJ's Annual "I'll Be There" Awards

DC Jobs with Justice is proud to announce the seventh annual "I'll Be There" awards. The ceremony and annual fundraiser- which will take place Thursday, June 11th, 5:30pm-7:30pm at the AFL-CIO- honors individuals and organizations for exceptional solidarity work in the Metro DC area while raising funds to support DC JwJ's work.We are proud to announce this year's honorees:
~ Ward 5 Councilmember Harry Thomas ~
~ Metropolitan Washington Public Health Association ~
~ Workers at the Gaylord and Sheraton Crystal City Hotels~
~ Vanessa Dixon ~

The awards ceremony will feature:

~ Son Cosita Seria ~
AfroMexican Sones Jarochos from Veracruz.

~ Union de Trabajadores Puppeteers ~
A puppet show on the challenges facing day laborers in the District, and building alliances with the community.

~ DC Labor Chorus ~
a musical ensemble representing union members from the Washington, DC, area.

Drinks, and light food provided.

Suggested donation of $25-50, no one turned away.
