Tenant Talent Show Fundraiser

10 Oct 2008 - 7:00pm
10 Oct 2008 - 10:00pm

In an effort to raise funds for the Center Street, NW Tenants Association we will be putting on a Tenant Talent Show! The Center Street, NW Tenants Association is in the process of purchasing their building so they make take control of their housing and preserve it as
affordable. Their building is 26 units and is comprised of long time DC residents as well as several families with young children. The building is very culturally diverse and is a great example of how low income
residents from different cultural backgrounds can come together to work towards a common goal. The current owner of the building has run down the building in an effort to force them out but residents have organized
and are well into the process of purchasing their building. Their goal is to make sure that Tenants who want to stay will be able to do so and to fix up the building so they may have a clean, problem free, safe
place to live for themselves and their families.

It will be a really great night, there will be local residents showcasing their talents and there will be great food prepared and served by the Center Street, NW Tenants Association (Daniel del Pielago will be spinning some hot music to get you moving). Come and meet the residents and hear their story! All of the funds raised will go directly to their Tenants Association to help them pay for the costs incurred in the process of purchasing their building.

This will be the first of many Talent Shows to come that will serve the purpose of raising funds for Tenant Associations who are in need of funds and to build community amongst tenants in the District of Columbia.

Here are the details for the event, we would love to see all of you there showing your support for people who want to make a difference and be an example for other low income residents of the District. If you would like to volunteer your talents or to assist in the planning or execution of the event please contact me directly at (202-588-5102 xt. 42-Daniel del Pielago) Please feel free to share this far and wide!!!!
