ONE DC
The mission of ONE DC is to create and preserve racial and economic equity through community organizing that centers on the immediate needs and life experiences of DC residents.
Constituencies: workers and tenants, particularly those living in public and subsidized housing in the Shaw and Anacostia neighborhoods.
Tactics: organizing and popular education.
Current campaigns:
1. Campaign for the enforcement of the District's commitment to train 600+ residents for living wage jobs at the Convention Center Marriott.
2. Campaign to ensure the affordability of new housing developments at 7th and R Streets NW in the Shaw community.
3. Campaign to require true resident control of the New Communities program, DC's version of the federal Hope VI program.
